Living the dream

Lex Joon had already won a Top Fuel championship in European FIA drag racing. He wanted more. In 2013 he and his wife, Gerda, sold their business, put the car on a boat in Rotterdam and moved to Indiana to race NHRA Top Fuel.

Lex says nowhere else in the world would living your dream be possible. He champions America louder than most people born here. The Dutch flag and the Stars and Stripes ride side by side on his cockpit.

Lex and Gerda run Lex Joon Racing as a family team against the big budgets. In 2025 he won Top Fuel at the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series race at Darana Dragway in Milan, Michigan, beating Mitch King in the final with a 3.964. In 2026 he ran a career-best 320.51 mph in Maryland.

Never quit. NVR QUIT is on the crew shirts and across the wing, and it's the name of his podcast, Never Quit Nitro.
